Hannah Neighbors

Hannah Neighbors is a member of the firm’s Employment Practice Group and counsels clients in a wide range of labor and employment issues. She advises clients on matters including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leave, and other workplace issues. She also drafts and reviews employee policies, employee handbooks, offer letters, and separation agreements. Hannah also has experience assisting clients in responding to demand letters and EEOC charges, including through mediation.

Hannah has experience investigating employment complaints and she frequently partners with white collar colleagues to conduct sensitive internal investigations, including investigations into reports of misconduct, harassment, and discrimination. Hannah also has experience advising clients on the lawful design and implementation of diversity, equity, and inclusion processes and practices, and has conducted civil rights and racial equity audits and assessments.

Hannah maintains an active pro bono practice, including in litigation matters and employment matters for non-profit clients.

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) in April 2024 issued new enforcement guidance on harassment in the workplace, its first guidance on this subject in 25 years, superseding five earlier documents from the 1980s and 1990s.  The new guidance accounts for the changing times, including the #MeToo and Black Lives Matter movements, the Supreme Court’s decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, and the COVID-19 pandemic, and presents a comprehensive summary of the legal standards for harassment claims.  The guidance, which is effective immediately and will be referenced by EEOC staff in determining whether to investigate and ultimately litigate allegations of discrimination, provides a helpful roadmap for employers’ efforts to prevent and correct workplace harassment.  As further explained below, however, it is already being challenged.Continue Reading EEOC Issues New Guidance on Workplace Harassment
